How did you get started? 

Flying Cows was set up in 2004 by a Scottish English teacher in Korea who realized three things:

(1) Graduates were signing contracts with schools overseas without knowing what the industry standards were.

(2) Schools were hiring teachers without properly interviewing them and hiring based on looks rather than qualifications.

(3) Recruitment companies were telling graduates anything to get graduates to sign a contract with a school so they could collect their recruitment fee.

The Solution

Teachers who should have been having the time of their lives in an amazing country were disillusioned and resenting their time at work.  In response to this Flying Cows – Teaching English Without the Bull! was set up to give teachers support in choosing a great opportunity abroad.  From advising teachers on what questions to ask in interviews to getting new teachers in touch with existing teachers at their school before they sign a contract, Flying Cows aimed to educate teachers on choosing a job and increase industry transparency.

Fast Forward

Fast forward 15 years!! and Flying Cows has helped thousands of graduates take their first (and often 2nd and 3rd) steps teaching English in South Korea, China, Thailand and Online. Flying Cows encourages graduates to ask as many questions as possible before signing a contact and are on hand to offer free, friendly advice and guidance throughout the process. TEFL graduates can make upwards of $1780 per month living in amazing countries, teaching English, and making a difference.  Flights and accommodation are often paid for by the schools and bonuses are often available.
